It’s been an eight-year drought for the Cougars
It’s been a long eight years since the last winning season for the Chino Valley High School boys basketball team.
The Northern Arizona Suns’ inaugural season here began with a bang on Saturday night, Nov. 12, as 2,345 fans watched the NBA Development League team defeat the Iowa Energy, 122-107, at Prescott Valley Event Center.
Chino Valley High School senior Arturo Gomez ended his remarkable prep tenure scoring both goals to lead the Cougars to a 2-0 victory over previously-undefeated Blue Ridge, handing the Cougars their fourth straight Class 2A state championship on Saturday at Campo Verde High School in Gilbert.
While the Chino Valley High School boys soccer team is a powerhouse, winning eight state championships including four straight, the girls team has not had that level of success.
